15 Doors

Tuesday I worked at the marina with Brad, his Dad and Brett. I painted 15 doors. That gave me a LOT of time to think. You can have some great conversations with yourself and with God while doing work like this. I guess I don’t pray in the conventional sense like a lot of people do. I sort of have this conversation in my head. Mostly I talk and He listens. It’s a great way to figure things out and get clearer direction. Usually I don’t care for repetitive stuff but perhaps I need to give it more value. Maybe I need more time to just talk with God.

Proud As Punch

We are so proud of our kids! Brett just had his first paying gig this last Saturday working sound for the annual spring concert for Steps of Faith Dance Studio at the Grand Theatre. He did a great job and is following in his Dad’s footsteps. Clara gave a great performance dancing too!

Both of our kids love our chuch so much that, even though I have every other Saturday off from working, they still make me get there in time to attend both services. They both volunteer and they both have a blast! Thanks Oak Leaf for creating a kids environment that they LOVE!

More Crazy Cakes!

OK, so I have cake-on-the-brain. I am giving myself a crash course so that I know what is out there, what is current, and what direction I want to go in. Not sure if life-sized cakes are my thing but they sure are amazing.

While I’m at it, here is a bride’s dress made entirely out of a special sugar icing. Wow! And here’s another one made of cream puffs… alright, I digress, that really isn’t cake…

Meat Cake!

In my research for cake ideas and whatnot I ran across this. There are some really strange but interesting things out there! At least my non-sweet loving friends will have options.

Eat Your Veggies

Well, maybe not eat … how about play with your veggies. Gives new meaning to playing with your food. Watch this.

Coffee or Tea

I don’t like coffee. Nope, not at all. Yes, I have tried, even at a cold football game once, but it just isn’t for me. Everyone tells me that if I put enough cream and sugar in it that I would like it. Is that really coffee though? I do like tea. Hot tea that is. We are in the South and if you just say tea then you get sweet iced tea. This is good but not what I like to drink on cool mornings. I like herbal teas because I don’t do caffeine do to sleep issues. Right now one of my favs is mandarin orange by Celestial Seasonings. It’s cheap at WalMart. Did I mention that I am cheap? That’s for another post. Here’s a little coffee art to brighten your day.

Hostile Environment

I suffer from seasonal rhinitis. Sounds serious doesn’t it. Well, it may not be serious but it can be miserable. Here are Tiffany’s top tips for seasonal allergy sufferers in no particular order of importance:

1. Turn your house a/c fan on and change your filters. Even if you aren’t running a/c you can turn the fan on to filter the air all the time you might not need one of those expensive stand-alones. Turn off ceiling fans cause they circulate the air.

2. Wear sunglasses when outside – especially on windy days. Wind is a big enemy and will rub the pollen across your eyeballs like sandpaper. Try not to rub your eyes for the same reason.

3. If you go outside wash when you come back inside. Shower morning and night. Also wash your face if you start to have an attack. Use a washcloth and soap. Just water doesn’t cut it. Ask your spouse to shower at night too. You don’t really want to sleep in that stuff.

4. Create an environment where your body can take a break from pollen at night. Clean sheets, vacuumed floors (use an allergy bag), lower temperatures help.

5. Take something and be religious about it. I avoid drugs as-much-as-possible so I try to use stuff God provided like butterbur & nettle. I do take Claritin everyday but it doesn’t seem to help too much. I take it as sort of a low maintenance thing. Also, take a really good multivitamin daily.

Saving Some $$$

Reader’s Digest recently had an article about an extreme hypermiller. Although I’m not into extreme, I’m all about saving a buck so check these tips out. Now, when you see me driving around like Grandma don’t laugh!

Spring Break

I love the smell of sawdust! Brad, my husband, won a bid to build the interior of Holiday Harbor Marina’s new building at Lake Allatoona. I am really enjoying working construction again. My dad was a contractor for many years and I worked on quite a few projects around Lake Chelan, WA (prounounced Shelan). Let’s just hope that I don’t drop a hammer on my head or something stupid like that!

I am also working on starting a cake business. If you have a good name for me let me know. Brett came up with a good one: iCake!

Gingerbread 2007

Here’s a short clip of our son Brett & his friend Mitch on TV! They actually won the Nat’l Gingerbread Contest – Jr. Division for 2007!

Here is a link to their website that tells and shows all about how they did it.

And here is a link to Grove Park Inn’s web site.
